Why Dover

From the arrival of the Romans in 43 AD to World War II, Dover town and the wider district have been embedded in our national story and sense of identity.  The district remains a strategically important gateway to other places, contributing millions to the UK economy, and its iconic white cliffs are on many a bucket list.

Yet this is a place that is much more than chalk cliffs, a port and castles.

Samphire Hoe and Dover

Tomorrow is here. From sustainable net zero logistics at the Port of Dover to the future of food production at Grow Up Farms’ vertical farming facility at Discovery Park, this is a place where innovation thrives.

For those who come to visit, there are more reasons than ever to stay and experience all that the area has to offer – from Tai chi on Deal beach and foraging expeditions in the North Downs to exploring Samphire Hoe, the nature reserve built on spoil from the Channel Tunnel, and sampling wonderful local produce from the garden of England.
