At little more than an hour from central London by high-speed train, connected by two motorways (the M20 and M2, which interconnect to the M25 London orbital route) and just 75 minutes from Calais on a cross-Channel ferry or 35 minutes via Le Shuttle, the Dover district is easy to travel to and get around.
Dover is just 21 miles from mainland Europe with ferries departing every 30 minutes to Calais and Dunkirk around the clock. It’s becoming easier for residents to get around too, with the new Dover Fastrack route and a fleet of new buses connecting the growing community of Whitfield with Dover town centre and Dover Priory station.

The opening of Thanet Parkway station has also improved connectivity with London and the rest of Kent for the science and innovation campus, Discovery Park in Sandwich. A dedicated shuttle service linking park visitors with the High Speed One line is now in operation.
