Developer breathes new life into former Hammill Brickworks site

Redevelopment of the former Hammill Brickworks is continuing apace with developer, Quinn Estates, reporting strong take up for the mixed use development near Sandwich.  Out of a total of 19 new residential units, eight self-build plots have already been sold off-plan.  Six commercial (B1c use) units are also under offer with potential for 40 new jobs.   A reserved matters planning application (15/00153) is currently being considered by DDC relating to the details of the layout, scale, and appearance of the commercial units.

The redevelopment of Hammill Brickworks follows its closure in 2008.  Quinn Estates has undertaken extensive remediation work on the site, which has generated opportunities for local construction companies, including Aylesham-based, Datum Groundworks Ltd.  The plans for the site also include two historic engine sheds which are being converted into six innovative live/work units. 

Quinn Estates has a growing portfolio of developments in the Dover District, with plans to extend their existing Deal Business Park with a new mixed use development at Albert Road, Deal.  The plans include new housing, a food store, children’s nursery, and new infrastructure.  Quinn Estates also has outline planning consent for the development of 73 new homes at the Salvatori site in Preston.
