Heavy demolition starts at Burlington House complex
The next phase of demolition has started at the Burlington House complex with the ground floor reception area and restaurant of the former County Hotel being pulled down. Demolition of the multi-storey car park meanwhile is now at the half-way stage.
Contractors, DDS Demolition, are currently in the process of stripping out and making safe Burlington House itself, along with erecting a scaffolding wrap of the building in advance of demolition.
Work will also begin shortly on the ground level units to the west of Burlington House, including the former Light of India restaurant and Dover Eurochange, the latter now trading at 122 Snargate Street.
Construction of the new St James retail and leisure development is due to start in the autumn.
