Megger celebrates 50 years of manufacturing in Dover
Megger, one of Dover’s biggest employers and a major exporter is celebrating 50 years of manufacturing in the town with an Open Day on Saturday, 12 November. Established in the late 1800s, the company designs and manufactures portable test and measurement instruments that perform electrical measurements for preventative maintenance, troubleshooting and commissioning.
The company, originally called AVO, opened its Dover factory in 1966 and has since grown to become a world leader in electrical testing with local offices and technical support teams and distributors all over the world. As well as Dover, which is the company’s headquarters, Megger also manufactures in Germany, Sweden, and the USA.
To mark its 50th anniversary in Dover, Megger is providing a unique opportunity for people to visit their factory on Saturday, 12 November (10am-3pm). As well as taking guided tours of the factory, there will also be information on apprenticeships, student placements, and job opportunities in electrical, mechanical and software engineering. There will also be competitions, including the “PowerGrid Challenge” for local schools.
Graham Heritage, Managing Director, at Megger Instruments in Dover, said: “We are proud to be celebrating our 50th year of manufacturing in Dover. The town has a rich history of manufacturing and we’re delighted to be opening our doors to the local community.
