Barratt Homes rated 'outstanding' for build quality at Aylesham
Barratt Homes has been awarded an ‘outstanding’ rating for the quality of its building of houses on the Aylesham Garden Village development.
Building For Life is a construction industry award given for the design of new housing developments in the UK and measures new schemes against 12 specific criteria. The award highlights the excellent design of new homes, neighbourhoods and communities.
Endorsed by Design Council, Chartered Associaiton of Building Engineers (CABE), and the House Builders Federation (HBF) the principles of the assessment ensure that housing should be attractive, functional and sustainable. The assessment that saw Aylesham Garden Village achieve its outstanding rating confirms the overall design of the development exceeds the aims of the new National Planning Policy Framework and responds to the Government’s commitment to build high quality schemes with the involvement of local communities throughout planning.
Mark Bailey, Regional Director for Barratt and David Wilson Homes in Kent said: “The award is a fantastic achievement and shows we continue to push the boundaries for design, quality and customer service. We are especially proud to earn an outstanding rating as they are extremely hard to win. Congratulations to all of the teams involved.”
Aylesham Garden Village is a development of 1,200 new homes under construction. The partners are Barratt Homes, Persimmon Homes and Dover District Council. When complete in a few years time, the development will mirror the original garden village concept of Aylesham when it was first created in the 1920s.
