Weak pound brings welcome boost to US cruise calls at Dover
The weak pound is boosting US visitors to the UK as the summer cruise season picks up at the Port of Dover. This week sees the arrival of two major US cruise lines at the port with Royal Caribbean's 'Vision of the Seas' and Disney Cruise Line's 'Disney Magic' returning for a season of ex-UK cruises from Dover.
The Port of Dover is the UK's second busiest cruise port with the port-of-call and turnaround visits providing a summer boost for local businesses and traders, as well as bringing tourists to attractions throughout East Kent. Dover's cruise trade is an important part of the Kent tourism economy and the port works with Visit Kent to promote cruise tourism.
Cruise passengers arriving at Dover on port-of-call visits receive a warm welcome from the volunteer Dover Greeters who are on hand at the cruise terminals and in Dover town centre to greet visitors and provide information on local attractions.
