£1m Waterfront Spa & Health Club opens at Best Western Plus Dover Marina Hotel

  • Seven beautifully appointed treatment rooms, new sauna, steam room and Jacuzzi
  • Four new guest suites also added, including breathtaking bridal suite
  • Famous Indian singer Vijay Prakash performs at the opening ceremony

The Waterfront Spa & Health Club has opened at the Best Western Plus Dover Marina Hotel – and Ben Cohen MBE, one of the heroes of England’s 2003 Rugby World Cup triumph, was on hand to cut the ribbon.

Cohen – who won a legion of new admirers when he appeared on BBC TV’s Strictly Come Dancing in 2013 – joined a host of VIP guests to toast the launch of the luxurious new spa and also the unveiling of four new suites, including a stunning bridal suite.

Another special guest at the opening ceremony was popular Indian singer Vijay Prakash, who is one of the artists credited for the Academy Award-winning song ‘Jai Ho’, which featured in the hit movie Slumdog Millionaire. Vijay delighted guests by performing an impromptu song at the spa opening.

The 85-bedroom hotel, a grade II-listed Regency crescent terrace with an enviable beach-front location overlooking the harbour with views across the English Channel to France, is now home to one of the most luxurious boutique spas in the region.

More than £1m has been invested to create seven beautifully appointed treatment rooms, new sauna, steam room and Jacuzzi, a bigger and more luxurious relaxation area, changing rooms and showers. Extended opening hours are also offered for the convenience of clients.

During the champagne unveiling, therapists demonstrated the Ayurveda treatments available at the spa, which are designed to promote mental and physical wellness.

Award-winning ELEMIS products and treatments are on offer for the first time at The Waterfront and consultants from ELEMIS attended to provide guests with more information and to demonstrate the premium range of products now available there.

Improvements to the gym include new state-of-the-art Technofit equipment, while personal trainers are on hand to assist guests and run fitness classes.

Managing Director Mr Kanagaratnam Rajaseelan said: “Everyone who has been involved in this exciting project deserves huge credit. It has been a labour of love and we are delighted with the results. The Waterfront Spa & Health Club sets new standards and my message today is that if you are looking for the best spa in Kent, you should make us your first port of call.”

He said that the investment had created around 25 jobs, including therapists, gym instructors and receptionists, and all had been appointed from the local area, so providing a major boost to the economy of Dover.

Ben Cohen spoke about the importance of fitness and well-being to him as a professional sportsman and said he was hugely impressed with the new facilities at the spa.

“Like many other people I have perhaps travelled through Dover on my way to Europe not realising just how much the area has to offer visitors. The hotel’s position on the seafront is fabulous while the spa and health club offer facilities which are second to none. I can’t wait to return!” he told guests before cutting the ceremonial ribbon.

In addition to the new spa, the hotel has also created four luxurious new suites after acquiring an adjoining part of the terraced building. These premium rooms are spacious and beautifully decorated and finished, and include a bridal suite which boasts spectacular sea views.

As a special opening offer, there is 30% off all treatments and packages until 28 March 2018, subject to terms and conditions. For full details of the impressive range of spa treatments and products available visit
