Dover District Council has granted planning permission for a new Aldi supermarket in Deal. The proposals for a 1,739 sq. m. (1,254 sq. m. sales area) supermarket with associated parking and landscaping will create 50 new local jobs.
Cllr Jim Back, Dover District Council’s Cabinet Member for the Built Environment, said: “This is another sign of confidence in Deal and the wider district from one of the country’s leading retailers. The proposals bring new competition to Deal and are in line with our town centre and retail assessment which identifies the need for new retail floor space in Deal.
“I am pleased that the Planning Committee took into consideration the economic benefits of Aldi’s plans, not least the creation of up to fifty new jobs. I also welcome the proactive approach of our planning team and the applicant in order to help bring this scheme forward.”
