Dover books first cruise call for The Open in 2020

With two years until The Open returns to Royal St George’s Golf Club in Sandwich from 12-19 July 2020, local businesses are gearing up for an influx of visitors from around the world as the East Kent course hosts the prestigious golfing event.  The Open attracts over 180,000 visitors and generates £64 million for the local economy. 

Cruise lines are already confirming their slots at the Port of Dover, including the 'Azamara Pursuit' of Azamara Club Cruises which calls at Dover from Saturday, 18 July to Sunday, 19 July 2020 so that passengers on its 14 night British Open Cruise can  watch the drama unfold in the final two days of play at the 149th Open Championships.

Royal St George’s is one of the world’s most renowned championship links golf courses and 2020 will be the fifteenth time that it has has hosted The Open.  The R&A recently annnounced that Royal St George’s would host two further Open championships in the period up to 2036.
