Dover's iconic landscape adds appeal for expedition cruisers

Dover's iconic landscape and rich natural heritage is attracting a growing reputation with specialist operators in the expedition cruise market as travellers seek out unique destinations and adventure experiences.

The Port of Dover this week welcomed a maiden call from the ultra-luxury expedition cruise ship, Silver Cloud, operated by Silversea Cruises.  And it wasn't long after sailing into Dover that the adventure-seeking passengers disembarked to head off on a unique kayaking experience to see the iconic White Cliffs of Dover up close and personal.

Silver Cloud has an ice-strengthened hull for cruising in the polar regions, and visited Dover on a Europe and British Isles itinerary.

There are over 20 new expedition cruise ships on order as operators seek to capture a share of the growing consumer interest in unique travel experiences.  So Dover can expect more calls in the future as travellers seek out the area's iconic natural wonders and rich heritage experiences.
