Saga's twin 'Spirits' chart course for inaugural cruises from Dover in 2019 and 2020
Saga Cruise Line has announced that the second of its new purpose-built cruise ships, Spirit of Adventure, will set sail from Dover on its inaugural cruise on 21 August 2020. She joins sistership, Spirit of Discovery, which is first off the stocks from builders Meyer Werft in Papenburg, Germany in 2019. She sets sail from Dover on her inaugural cruise on 10 July 2019.
Both 58,250gt ships measure 236m in length with a maximum beam of 31.2m. They will host 999 passengers and 517 crew. Inside however, the two ships will have their own distinct identities.
Dover is the UK’s second busiest cruise port with further capacity coming on stream in 2019 with the opening of a new 300m multipurpose quay and mooring dolphin which can accommodate ships up to 350 meters as part of the £250m Dover Western Docks Revival.
