As a place to live it compares well too. Dover town was recently named the most affordable place to buy a home in the south east in a report by housing website, Zoopla. Rental costs are comparatively lower too.


The Kent Property Market Report for 2024 published the same month suggests the cost of an average home in Dover district as a whole is £380,895 compared to an average of £441,982 for the wider south east.
Lower office costs and demand for quality commercial space proved a win for the Dover district with bio-pharma service provider Asymchem setting up its new European headquarters at Discovery Park, taking more than 115,000 sq ft (10,658 sq m) of space.
