Official opening of the new Welcome building at East Kent College Dover campus
RESUSCITATING an old and somewhat depressed building to bring it firmly into the 21st century in three months is no easy task. However, that is what building firm Bennings Brothers managed to achieve at the East Kent College Dover campus. On the first day of term after the Christmas holidays, director Sarj Benning and commercial manager Glen Selby were able to hand over the newly created ground floor of the Welcome Building to the College on time and within budget.
The light, airy and attractive reception area offers a truly delightful welcome for students and potential students and creates an excellent first impression for anyone visiting the College. There is an Open Learning Resource Centre and a library and the modern office space and working environment available to the administration staff is a real bonus.
Careers and employment adviser, Katie Jackson, said: “My new office is great. There is plenty of room for students to drop in and have a chat to discuss career ideas and they can do this in confidence.”
Campus principal, Victoria Copp-Crawley, added: “I am really pleased with the new reception area because it provides much improved facilities for both students and staff and will enhance the reputation of the College in the local community.”
These improvements illustrate the continuing efforts being made to redevelop the campus to provide a modern and engaging environment for everyone involved.
