Multimodal showcases Dover’s unrivalled connections with Europe

Dover businesses are out in force at the UK and Ireland’s biggest logistics event, Mutlimodal 2016 (10-12 May).  The Port of Dover, Motis, Priority Freight, and Freightex are all exhibiting at the NEC in Birmingham to showcase Dover’s position as a key link in the UK’s supply chain with Europe.  Cross-Channel neighbours, the Ports of Calais, Boulogne and Dunkerque are also at the show which is attended by shippers, exporters and importers.

Dover is the UK’s premier trade link with mainland Europe with the Port of Dover handling £119bn worth of trade annually.  With unrivalled connections to Europe with DFDS Seaways and P&O Ferries, Dover has become a location of choice for the logistics trade and companies looking to export.  The Port of Dover is the official maritime partner for the Government’s Exporting is GREAT campaign.

The Port of Dover is showcasing its Western Docks Revival project which will further enhance the port’s cargo and fresh produce business, as well as creating new opportunities for back-filling empty lorries on their return to Europe.

Tim Ingleton, Head of Inward Investment at Dover District Council, said: “The unrivalled connections with Europe from Dover are a key selling point for businesses relocating to the district.  Nowhere in the UK can offer better connectivity to European markets.”
