Familiar names, new formats for St James

Two well-known high street brands are bringing exciting new store formats to the St James leisure and retail development in the heart of Dover town centre.

Dover will be the latest location for The Food Warehouse by Iceland, the big box format from the popular frozen food retailer.  It combines the full Iceland frozen food range along with extended ranges of luxury and speciality frozen food, chilled meat and fresh produce, fine wines and craft beers, a wide selection of value bulk packs of grocery products, and selected bargain homeware lines.  The Food Warehouse by Iceland is taking a 10,000 sq. ft. store at St James.

Shoe Zone is also bringing its new ‘Big Box’ format to St James with a 5,000 sq. ft. store.  The new format brings under one roof Shoe Zone own-label products along with a larger range of popular footwear brands, such as Hush Puppies, HiTec, and Sketchers.

The 157,000 sq. ft. St James development also includes anchor retail tenants, M&S Simply Food and Next, along with a six-screen Cineworld multiplex cinema, restaurants, a 24-hour Anytime Fitness gym, and a 108-bed Travelodge hotel.

Neil Crawford, Head of Retail and Leisure Development for owners, Legal & General Investment Management Real Assets, said: “It’s great to see big name retailers adding to the choice in Dover by bringing new formats to the town.  The St James development provides the big boxes that today’s high volume retailers demand.  This complements the existing town centre and will generate substantial new footfall.  The cinema, hotel and restaurants will stimulate the evening economy.”
